How to Get to Forest of Dean Trail
🚗 By Car:
- Use GPS to find "Go Ape Beechenhurst, Forest of Dean"
- Enter via Speech House Road entrance
- Follow signs to Beechenhurst Lodge
- Arrive early, spaces fill up quickly!
🚆 By Train: Closest stations
- Lydney (20–25 min taxi)
- Gloucester (45 min taxi or bus)
🚌 By Bus:
- Bus routes: 22 or 23 from Gloucester or Coleford

What To Wear?
- Base Layer: Materials like merino wool or synthetic fibers work well
- Insulating Layer: Fleece or a lightweight down jacket are good options
- Outer Layer: Should be a waterproof and windproof jacket
- Footwear: Recommended hiking boots or shoes with good ankle support
- Reminder: When investing in hiking boots get 1 size up to leave room for socks)
Depending on the weather, you may also want to wear shorts, sunglasses and other summer fits !
Food/Nutrition
- Hydration: Bring plenty of water.
- High-Energy Snacks: Bring snacks that are high in energy and easy to eat on the go.
- E.g. Energy bars, trail mix (nuts, seeds, dried fruit), granola bars
