The Roaches & Lud’s Church Adventure Hike

Escape the city and join the USVE community for an unforgettable day exploring one of the Peak District’s most iconic landscapes. This adventure takes us through dramatic gritstone ridges, hidden woodland trails, panoramic viewpoints, and the legendary chasm of Lud’s Church.
Expect a full day of movement, connection, incredible scenery, and good energy with like-minded people. Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, this is more than just a hike — it’s a full outdoor experience.

- You must have a ticket to attend the hike
- Gourmet lunch is optional but highly recommended

OPTIONAL FRIDAY NIGHT CAMPING

Make a full weekend of the adventure and arrive the night before to experience the Peak District properly.
We’ll have a small USVE campsite setup ready for the community on Friday evening so you can settle in, relax around camp, connect with everyone, and wake up in the mountains ready for Saturday’s hike.
No stress. No setup. Just arrive and enjoy the experience.

A stunning circular route through the best parts of The Roaches and surrounding trails.

Recommended For: Intermediate to experienced hikers with a good base level of fitness.
Expect uneven terrain, rocky sections, elevation, and a steady pace throughout the day.
COACH PASSENGERS – IMPORTANT
Please bring:
- Spare clothes for the journey home
- Sliders/trainers for after the hike
- Waterproofs & warm layers
- Water & snacks
You’ll be able to leave a small bag on the coach during the hike.

Parking is very limited — car sharing strongly recommended.

Local routes run to Leek, with taxis available from town to Upper Hulme.
